Draw Your Breath

Requires: pen and paper

We will guide your breathing as you make marks on the page. By taking slow, deep breaths, you're promoting a state of calmness by increasing the supply of oxygen to your brain and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.

Mindful Colouring

Length: 15 minutes

Requires: pen, paper, 3 coloured markers/pencils

You won't need a colouring book to start your mindful practice ever again. Colouring can relax the amygdala, your brain's fear centre. It induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind.

Freestyle Mandala

Length: 30 minutes

Requires: pen, (watercolour) paper, coloured pencils/ markers OR watercolour + 1 brush

Several studies link mandalas to a decrease in stress and anxiety. This exercise is very loose and casual. Set your intention, relax, and allow this activity to guide your energy and attention.

Blind Art

Requires: white crayon, 2 watercolours, watercolour paper, 1 brush

It's easy to forget about the mindful aspect of art-making (the process) when the result is all you have in mind. This activity releases your expectations and need for control while focusing on observation.
