Thank you Ian for pushing my boundaries...on the last painting I finally managed to push the watercolour around and I loved it. Very happy student...while it's not evident in my work I've learnt heaps.

Just finished The Journey of Looking course with Ian Fennelly. Thank you #etchrstudio! Lots of learning going on here. I really enjoyed using only 4 colours and learning how to mix the paint right on the paper.

About the Artist
Ian has been a professional artist most of his life. He specializes in watercolour painting and spends most of his life travelling and painting on location. Through the years, Ian developed a keen sense of observation that allows him to include not only the visuals but also the atmosphere, smells, noise and buzz of a place in his work.
Aside from painting, Ian is a passionate art teacher who loves to support artists in their creative journey in whichever way he can.
What will I learn?
This is a structured course, guided by a curriculum and broken down into four 90-minute long classes.
Designed and taught by professional watercolour artist Ian Fennelly (@ianfennelly), this course will hone your watercolour skills.
Ian's learning objectives for this course:
To see and notice things before putting pen onto paper;
To use pencils to establish a simple structure and composition;
To use watercolours to help create both a descriptive and emotional response to the subject;
To use fineliners to help discover and record the detailed street furniture;
To let the picture breathe and focus attention on key areas.
As your understanding progresses, each session will increase in difficulty to push you out of your comfort zone and help you grow as an artist.
At the end of this course, you will have a deeper understanding of the medium and the process. In addition, you'll be capable of creating an emotional connection between your work and the audience.
