Enrol Now for $84

You can't paint without drawing. There are tricks and things that will help you trace but you're not doing yourself a favour. It's okay to use those things but if you think you can get by without taking a drawing class, no. The hand that paints is the same hand that draws.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my money back if I don't like the course?

We offer a no-questions-asked 7 day money back guarantee, counting from the purchase date.

We only ask that you request a refund before spending two hours or more on the course. We will then, proceed with the refund and cancelation.

The guarantee extends to all classes or courses that are purchased individually but not to our subscriptions.

What will I learn in each class?

Great question! Here is a short description for every single class:

Session 1: Adding dimension to shapes

Understand how cubes sit in space. Learn how to draw straight lines and add depth to your subject using one and two-point perspectives.

Session 2: Drawing Simple Objects

Take depth and dimension further by applying your knowledge to drawing simple closed and open objects, like filling cabinets and tables. At the end of this class, you will be able to use perspective, place your objects in space, and accurately draw simple straight objects, such as books.

Session 3: Drawing Curved Objects

Apply everything you learned, but this time, to curved objects in space. Learn how to carve a cylinder out of a cube while developing a sketching hand and training your eye to see as an artist. At the end of this class, you will be able to accurately draw simple rounded objects, like vases and cups, and place them in space.

Session 4: Complex Curved Objects

Learn how to connect different-size ovals for complex curves and make cones from cylinders. At the end of this class, you'll be able to accurately draw more complex curved objects, such as wine bottles and intricate vases.

Session 5: Spheres

Develop a sketching hand for circles that don't look stiff and misshapen. Create a value scale and learn how to layer graphite to create smooth transitions of values. At the end of this class, you will understand value, shade, shadow and depth.

Session 6: Complete a Still Life Drawing

Apply everything you learned in this 3-hour-long live class while drawing a still-life composition. Join Tina in a Zoom room and draw alongside her as you learn how to:

  • Set up your subject and understand where to start drawing;

  • Draw each object in proportion to the other;

  • Compose your drawing;

  • Apply shade, shadow, and create the illusion of 3D objects that occupy space.

At the end of this course, you will understand the foundational aspects of 1 and 2-point perspective, values, shape, shade, shadow, dimension, placement and depth, thus, acquiring the tools and knowledge to draw accurately from observation.

How long is each class?

The classes have different lengths. We prioritise the quality of information over time consistency. Here's how long we anticipate each live class to last:

Session 1: Adding dimension to shapes

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 1:30h

Session 2: Drawing Simple Objects

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 1h

Session 3: Drawing Curved Objects

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 1h

Session 4: Complex Curved Objects

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 1:30h

Session 5: Spheres

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 2h

Session 6: Complete a Still Life Drawing

Class length (with time for a Q&A at the end): 2h

  • This specific class might go longer. It will take place in Zoom and is completely live. Tina will be drawing alongside you.

Will this course be completely live?

Pretty much, yes. Tina will do a live stream for every class. All audio will be live, but the drawing portion is pre-recorded to ensure the best quality with minimum technical issues. The last class will be fully live (audio AND video) and held in Zoom.

You will be able to participate live through the chat function. Tina and the host will address all your questions and pause the video if needed.

After each live session, the recording will be available for replay.

During the course, Tina will also address questions from participants on the main Etchr Facebook group.

At the end of the course, we will do a fully live Q&A session with Tina. You'll be able to participate via chat, ask her all your questions, and get feedback on your final assignment.

What if I can't attend all the Live classes?

No Problem! Each week has an assigned class. You are welcome to join the Live class and watch the class with other participants or watch the recording of the class at your own time during the week.

We also have a recorded video for each homework that we will upload right after the Live Class takes place.

I'm a subscriber. Do I have to purchase the course separately?

This course is free for all Subscribers.

Please email us at hello@etchrstudio.com to indicate your interest in participating, and you are all set.

If you'd like to subscribe, please go to this page.

*Program participation is withdrawn once the subscription is no longer active.

How much will I be able to interact with the Artist, Tina?

Tina will be present for every single class. She will be available to answer any questions.

How detailed would the feedback be?

Each class will present you with a new challenge assignment. If you submit it on the main Facebook group asking for critique, you will get feedback from Tina and other group members.

At the end of the course, Tina will also provide feedback on your final piece in a Live Feedback Session.

However, it is worth noting that this feedback will be at a high level; something to guide your next steps. This is also reflective of the price being charged for the 6-class series plus the support and feedback provided along the way.
