I learned quite a bit from this demonstration and was able to produce my most painterly portrait yet! Thank you Claudia.

I was disappointed. Most of the video, an hour or so, was spent doing a 1:1 drawing that could have been accomplished in two minutes using tracing paper, or could have been explained in ten minutes or less if one wanted to use measurements and angles. It was excruciatingly slow to watch. The same was pretty much true of the painting part (which used four colors, not two as advertised). Although it was shorter than the drawing portion it was still too long and too slow.

2/3 of the video covered a sketching style that took the artist years to learn and we are expected to follow along? Very little time spent on the actual painting, and if the moderator had not prompted her, there would have been very little explanation of the process. Disappointed to say the least.

Was disappointed not to stay awake long enough to join live workshop as the recording was so inspiring. Claudia teaches 2 methods of getting an accurate drawing which I am looking forward to testing out. Tonal differences were made easier with just the two choices - light or dark areas. The watercolour brought the portrait to life! Now to try for myself.

Great workshop! Claudia took her time explaining the technique she uses to find the correct proportions, I had never seen the use of a plumbline before. And I really enjoyed to see the shape and the volume of the face appear like out of magic, just from painting the shadow shapes.
